Apparently, the surgery was just carried out for research purposes. It was done two years ago, and only just now announced as a means of drumming up publicity for the hospital in China. The donor dog was killed as part of the process.
The chief plastic surgeon at the hospital "is now hoping to attract rich westerners for face change surgery."

Jan 8, 2010 at 12:51 PM For scientists to be claiming for us to probably be alone, or at least alone for our lifetimes in this universe, I feel sorry for the gentlest of dogs - the beagle. I see myself as an alien coming to this planet and seeing these wonderful creatures who are notorious for being gentle to dumped on, kicked, raped, spat on, and skinned alive makes me grieve humanity. All nations need to unite as one, and let the little man and his business do good. We need a birth rate population control for people of certain wages. Sad but true a lot of kids who stay in orphanages their whole lives turn out to be criminals a lot of times. Why bring life into this world, when you can save one? Why use a living being as resource when you know that there are alternatives. us humans were made to preserve and observe.
