This sort of thing often happens when Disney or Pixar features talking and heroic animals in movies for children. The "MOMMY, I NEED ONE" Epidemic sweeps the nation. This time around, your kid may be begging for a guinea pig, thanks to Disney new 3D movie adventure G-Force.
The G-Force is a team of specially trained government spies that also happen to be talking guinea pigs. The government is testing out a covert program that trains animals to work espionage. The G-Force team includes three guinea pigs with the world in their tiny paws: Agent darwin, the leader; Agent Blaster, the weapons master; and Agent Juarez, the seductive martial arts guru.
The Disney movie is producer Jerry Bruckheimer’s first take on 3D action and a step into the not-too-familiar children’s movie realm. The film is riddled with typical Jerry Bruckheimer car chase scenes, but has more humor than normally found in his movies (think Pirates of the Caribbean and Pearl Harbor). G-Force features an impressive mix of CGI animation, live action and digital 3d. It is also cast with some pretty big name celebrities including Nicholas Cage, Penelope Cruz, Jon Favreau, Tracy Morgan, Steve Buscemi, and more.
People aren’t exactly giving G-Force rave reviews just yet (maybe give it time, it has only been in theaters less than a week). Critics seem to think that another talking animal movie is still another talking animal movie whether or not the characters are espionage guinea pigs (which hasn’t exactly been done before). See for yourself, here’s a preview:
Whether or not parents and critics like it, the children - to which it is geared for - will most likely enjoy it. Those children might also suddenly have interest in getting a new pet... a guinea pig. Disney seems to have that effect on children.
Guinea pigs are cute and sometimes cuddly companions (long story, but I once had a sweet one that turned toward evil ways). They may be cheaper than buying a dog, but is a guinea pig the right pet for your family? Here are some resources to help you decide before plunging into buying a rodent pet:

Aug 3, 2009 at 11:36 PM I can't wait to see this movie. My wife and two daughters went to see it on a "girls only" night and I got left out!
