In the file of "World's Dumbest Criminals Posing as Good Samaritans" we find this story...
A registered sex offender, Alfredo Dempkey, from Hawthorne, California happened to find a missing dog named Pineapple. When he contacted the family regarding their now-found dog, Dempkey talked with a young girl and demanded that she bring $70 or have sex with him, in order to get the dog back. When this young girl told her father, Felipe Carrillo, he called the cops, then went to the arranged meeting place at El Pollo Loco (without his daughter). Dempkey was confronted by Carrillo and his dog was returned to him, with no other exchanges. The cops arrested the man for attempted extortion.
This guy was so close to being a good Samaritan, calling the lost dog's phone number listed on the tags, but when he tried to hold the dog ransom for cash and sex, something went terribly wrong. Some people just don't have their heads screwed on tight enough!
