"America's Got Talent" Goes to the Dogs

main image
It technically may not be the year of the dog on the Chinese animal calendar, but dogs have made quite a show both here and across the pond in televised national talent shows. Last May, "Britain's Got Talent" top winner was 17-year-old trainer Ashleigh Butler with her dog Pudsey. Now appreciation for dog acts have spread to the Americas as well!

The $1-million winner of the American version of the talent show has also gone to a dog act. The Olate Dogs is the dream of Richard Olate, 55, who is a third-generation circus performer from South America. He moved to the US when he was 33 with the dream of creating a dog variety show. His son Nicholas Olate, 19, also participates in the training and in the performances. Several of the dogs used in the performances are shelter rescues. It is clear from watching the interaction between the dogs and their family, the appreciation and dedication is mutual!

The Olate family plans to buy a home with their winnings with larger living quarters for their dogs. All three videos are worth watching to appreciate the back story behind this amazing family and their dogs. It's a classic tale of hard work and dedication towards the American Dream, but this story has a delightful twist with man's best friend sharing the journey!
