Cat Missing for Four Years Reunited With Woman at Pet Store

main image

Fuzzy the cat may have used up most of his nine lives, but he and his former owner still believe in miracles.

Four years ago, Fuzzy ran off from a friend's house in and was believed dead after another friend reported that a cat resembling him appeared to have been hit by a car on the side of the road. Given the fact that Fluffy never returned, the report seemed true.

According to Fluffy's owner, Michelle Wright, of Barrington, NH, she took quite a long time for her to get over the loss.

The Cat Came Back

(But not the very next day.)

As fate would have it, Wright went into a pet store by her house that partners with the local shelter to facilitate pet adoptions. Just hours before Wright arrived, the Cocheco Valley Shelter brought in several adoptable pets. Wright just happened to stop by the adoption area when she was shocked to see a cat that looked very much like her old cat.

She asked the shelter worker how old the cat was, who mentioned that the cat was around 4 years old. At that point, she simply just knew it was the long-lost Fluffy.

She told the pet store staff that this was her cat, but in order to prove her claim, she went home and collected photographs of Fluffy. She came back the next day and was able to verify that this cat was truly Fluffy, especially when she pointed out the unusual dark mark on one of his paws.

A lesson learned about microchipping

Of course Wright still had to go through the adoption process and pay the $85 fee, but it was well worth the money to get her beloved pet back. And that was a bargain, considering that it included his vaccinations and a microchip that will insure Fluffy never gets lost again!
