Feline Friday: Cat Fantasy Furniture

I saw this amazing design today from a college student in Korea that seeks to satisfy both cat and human comfort simultaneously. Half of Korea's 50 million inhabitants are living in the capital Seoul, so space is at a premium with tiny, cramped apartments. Seungji Mun designed a sofa with tubes running through it for cats to climb and explore while the human companion relaxes. This was his senior project. Mun is actually more of a dog person, but if the cats and their converts have anything to do with it, I'm sure they will encourage Mun to put his project into full production very soon!

Delightful Daydreams

If cats were designing their own furniture, what do you think it would look like? Not many would incorporate a human element into it, is my guess. So I put on my kitty thinking kap on and imagined what might be fun if I were a cat.

We know that cats love vertical space, and providing enough of it can be key to making cats feel secure, and even can mitigate drama between cats. There are cat shelves that can be attached to any wall that provide vertical highways for cats to navigate around and artfully avoid each other, if needed.

I thought this Jack-N-Beanstalk Kitty Gym was a fun, novel idea. I has a lot of thoughtful features such as industrial strength carpet, platforms that give a bit to go easy on kitty's joints to ensure even older cats enjoy the climb. Fantasy Forest

This next idea would make cats think they are in the wilds of an enchanted forest. I imagine them encountering magic moths to chase in this lush playground.

This definitely caters to a cat's love for vertical space and height. This would be stunning in a child's room with a mural and a reading nook for everyone's imagination to take off!

I saw a lot of variations of these corrugated cardboard furnishings that were artistically appealing at BlogPaws 2012.
