Lutheran Church Charities, which runs the K-9 Parish Comfort Dogs initiative, sent out a team of 9 golden retrievers to assist the residents of Newtown, CT, who are still reeling from the tragedy that claimed the lives of 20 young students and eight adults, including the shooter. These specially-trained dogs have also journeyed to help victims of Hurricane Sandy and the residents of Joplin, Missouri after the tornado hit.
