Lily and Maddison are two Great Danes that share a passion for each other. Not in an intimate way, but rather they have friendship that runs deep. Without Maddison, Lily would have a tough time surviving. You see, Lily suffered from a rare condition called entropion. It’s a rare incidence where the edges of the eyelid turn inward. This causes the lashes to grow towards the eye, rubbing against the eyeballs. Sadly, veterinarians were forced to remove both of Lily’s eyes 5 years ago. Lily had to face the world blind at just 18 months old. Another Great Dane, Maddison, quickly took to Lily. Devoted and nurturing, Maddison was not trained to he Leading Lily by walking close to her and touching her, Maddison became her guide dog. They went everywhere together, ate together, and even cuddle at night together. As her support and her best friend, the pair became inseparable for five years. After a few years, the dog’s original owners found it hard to look after the pair and ended up giving them up for adoption. Since the Lily couldn't be split up from her guide dog, Maddison, the adoption agency was worried they wouldn’t find new owners. Anne and Len Williams, from Nantwich, Cheshire in the UK, stepped up to the plate and adopted the dogs from the Dogs Trust Shrewsbury in Roden. As soon as the couple saw the story of the pups in the front page of the Shropshire Star, they immediately ran to the phone. The couple was placed 2nd on the list out of 400 calls for the pair. With a handful of hope, the couple sat, patiently waiting. When they received the call that they were to be named the proud new owners of the duo, Mr. and Mrs. Williams transformed their garage into a dog house for the pair. No longer would Lily and Maddison be without loving owners. The pair wouldn’t be split up and their story ended in a fairytale. The dogs are now living happily with their new family and through thick or thin, this pair remains together. Photo courtesy of: Twentytwowords and Shropshire Star Vina on January 30 at 12:15 AM said:
