How To Measure Your Dog's Paws!
Proper footwear fit is essential to a fun day out (or in). Here's how to measure your pet's paws...
With your pet's paw on the ground, measure from the tip of the claws (those have to fit inside the shoe too) to the back of where the paw touches the ground, which is just behind the pad.
While your pet's paw is still on the ground, measure from side to side at the widest point of your pet's paw, which is usually near the base of the toes.
Handy Tip: Try having your pet step on a piece of paper, then trace around the paw. Then, while your pet is off eating your houseplants or terrorizing the neighborhood, you can measure the traced outline in peace.
How To Measure Your Dog!
I have worked with the finest furry tailors in the world, and am here to share my bounty of knowledge. Here's how to measure your pet...
Measure from the base of the tail (where it connects to the hindquarters) up to where the collar typically sits at the base of the neck, then follow up with a generous back scratch.
This is measured by giving your pet a
hug, during which you measure the entire circumference (all the way around) at the widest point of your pet's chest. This is typically right behind the front legs.
First, plenty of kisses. Then, measure the neck's circumference
(the distance around it) at the point where the collar sits.
Important Sizing Note: The given measurements are the dimensions of the actual product, not of the pet they fit. After measuring your pet, make sure all measurements fit within the following dimensions (with a little room to spare in the chest and neck).
The Hurtta Padded Dog H-Harness in Cherry is suitable for active walks for all dogs, but they are especially recommended for dogs with back and neck problems.
Distribute pressure evenly across chest
Soft and comfy neoprene padding
Ideal for short haired dogs
D-ring on front and back
Quick snap closure
Why We Love It:
When the dog pulls on the leash, the close-fitting harness distributes pressure evenly across the chest, preventing damages to the dog’s vertebrae. Thanks to the wide padding and ergonomic design, the harness is comfortable and does not cause wear on the dog’s fur or skin. Easy and quick to put on, both dog and owner will get accustomed to the harness in no time. Made from durable Neoprene, the harnesses are fitted with efficient 3M reflectors. Thanks to the addition of a fastener, the armpit padding stays in place when the dog is moving, providing protection from the clip buckle. Matching leashes sold separately.

I really like the construction of? this harness and was disappointed when it slipped around on her when she was off leash. For leash walked dogs this harness would be great. The design keeps the straps away from her underarms so there is no rubbing and the padding is complete. The straps can be adjusted to a perfect fit. The color here is not at all "red" but a bright magenta ish pink. Very flashy with the silver piping. Great harness but not for off leash.

I love Hurtta products & have been a fan of their Y harness for years. My only peeve is the unpadded straps under her front legs rub her pits. I decided to try the H harness design. My dog wears her harness every time we leave the house and is off leash 95% of the time. The H harness is designed to be free of the under arms and? has that going for it but the unadjustable strap running from the under side of her neck down her chest to the rib strap was way too loose and long for her. The harness otherwise? fit her well and has great padding and joint rings. When she walked around without a leash the harness slipped around ALOT and, unless a leash was attached to keep the unit straight, was just not at all appropriate. In addition to all that, the color, "Cherry", is not red. It is definitely a bright fuchsia pink with silver reflective trim. She's not that girly. I'm returning the harness and getting the good ol' Y harness again, just a size bigger.

I was given this harness a few years ago and love it! Unfortunately one of the dogs thought it was a chew toy so I had to have the same one to replace it. My dog Charlie (boy dog) has a red collar so I was hoping the cherry color would be more in the red family. Nope! If you are looking for red the Cherry is not for you. It is a raspberry pink. Only giving four stars for that reason. Otherwise FIVE stars all the way!

This is the fourth Hurtta harness I bought because they are great for Dachshunds. I was so excited when I saw what I thought was a red one (my dogs are color coded). Very disappointed to find out that "cherry" is actually pink. Also not happy that the sizing was changed, and the size I usually buy was too big in the chest for the pooch I intended it for. Actually it was too big for the other two dachshunds I have. These harnesses are not cheap, so to have to send it back is unfortunate.

The representative that helped me was quick to respond and was great. I had two $5 gift certificates and she put them both together into one so I could use all $10 on my order. I appreciate it so much!
