Product Information

Yes, they can see through it, but the ThunderCap does filter the dog’s vision in order to reduce the visual stimulation that the pet experiences which helps them in stressful situations.

  • See-through fabric that reduces visual stimulation while allowing the dog to maneuver through its surroundings
  • Soft fabric and elastic fit for maximum comfort
  • Great for cases where the dog experiences reactive behavior such as, vet visits, grooming, and walks
  • Works great in combination with ThunderShirt in some cases

Why We Love It:

The calming cap reduces the visual stimulus which can help your dog to remain calm. It is designed to reduce anxiety, and is popular for car trips, and even groomer visits. We recommend talking to your veterinarian, behaviorist or a qualified trainer who may provide additional assistance in reducing your dog's anxious behavior.

Having a 3 year old male Yorkie that hates to ride in the car. It is no fun. He will start drooling and suddenly throw up and usually urinate in his carrier. I have ridden with him on my lap (only to be peed on), with his window open. with window closed and ac blasting and nothing has helped. Got a Rx from clinic, but you need to plan at least 1 hour ahead and 4 pills are over $20.00. A vet at a shot clinic showed me the mask. The hunt was on. We are still at the early stages of putting it on briefly and then giving a treat while still wearing it. Then naturally he will start trying to get it off. Will do this a few more times, Then next week will be a drive to the groomers. Keeping my fingers crossed. Will keep you up dated on our journey.

This product was suggested to us by one of our veterinarians who is also an animal behaviorist. Our dog becomes extremely aggressive when riding in the car. He reacts to children walking, srollers, bicycles, runners, other cars, etc. He is not just barking but in an all out attack mode with drool running down the windows! Outside of the car he is as calm and sweet as can be. We have had the cap a short time and have used it for six car rides. So far, so good. He now rides peacefully in the back seat and has not attempted to get the cap off. I imagine the cap is making him feel secure. And I am very grateful for the peace and quiet.
