How To Measure Your Dog's Paws!
Proper footwear fit is essential to a fun day out (or in). Here's how to measure your pet's paws...
With your pet's paw on the ground, measure from the tip of the claws (those have to fit inside the shoe too) to the back of where the paw touches the ground, which is just behind the pad.
While your pet's paw is still on the ground, measure from side to side at the widest point of your pet's paw, which is usually near the base of the toes.
Handy Tip: Try having your pet step on a piece of paper, then trace around the paw. Then, while your pet is off eating your houseplants or terrorizing the neighborhood, you can measure the traced outline in peace.
How To Measure Your Dog!
I have worked with the finest furry tailors in the world, and am here to share my bounty of knowledge. Here's how to measure your pet...
Measure from the base of the tail (where it connects to the hindquarters) up to where the collar typically sits at the base of the neck, then follow up with a generous back scratch.
This is measured by giving your pet a
hug, during which you measure the entire circumference (all the way around) at the widest point of your pet's chest. This is typically right behind the front legs.
First, plenty of kisses. Then, measure the neck's circumference
(the distance around it) at the point where the collar sits.
Important Sizing Note: The given measurements are the dimensions of the actual product, not of the pet they fit. After measuring your pet, make sure all measurements fit within the following dimensions (with a little room to spare in the chest and neck).

This is a thin nylon jacket, which is quite useful for a light tracking or even a walk in light rain. Orange color is highly visual. Ruffwear offers some jackets fully long; and others short (stops at near the rear leg). This is the latter case (Air is fully long, on the other hand). It is relativelly easy to put on; but, should not put harness beneath the jacket. I am happy with my purchase!

I got a few of these for the puppers just before hunting season. We like to take hikes out on the BLM and I wanted to make sure we were seen. The dogs also work moving cattle and I threw the jackets on them during a low light, overcast day. What an inspiration! The dogs were kept somewhat dry and the jackets made them pop. So much easier to find them and keep track of them in tall grass, willows, and on the hillside. The only downside is trying to put the plastic talon through the fabric loop. Buckles would have been the better choice. It's a chore trying to slip the talon through the loop when you have an excited pup who knows he's about to go out for a run or a chance to work. The fabric is also easy to clean. Throw the jacket in the shower, rinse, and hang to dry. All in all, it performs as expected, and the fabric holds up to runs through the brush. This is why I only buy Ruffwear.
