How To Measure Your Dog's Paws!
Proper footwear fit is essential to a fun day out (or in). Here's how to measure your pet's paws...
With your pet's paw on the ground, measure from the tip of the claws (those have to fit inside the shoe too) to the back of where the paw touches the ground, which is just behind the pad.
While your pet's paw is still on the ground, measure from side to side at the widest point of your pet's paw, which is usually near the base of the toes.
Handy Tip: Try having your pet step on a piece of paper, then trace around the paw. Then, while your pet is off eating your houseplants or terrorizing the neighborhood, you can measure the traced outline in peace.
How To Measure Your Dog!
I have worked with the finest furry tailors in the world, and am here to share my bounty of knowledge. Here's how to measure your pet...
Measure from the base of the tail (where it connects to the hindquarters) up to where the collar typically sits at the base of the neck, then follow up with a generous back scratch.
This is measured by giving your pet a
hug, during which you measure the entire circumference (all the way around) at the widest point of your pet's chest. This is typically right behind the front legs.
First, plenty of kisses. Then, measure the neck's circumference
(the distance around it) at the point where the collar sits.
Important Sizing Note: The given measurements are the dimensions of the actual product, not of the pet they fit. After measuring your pet, make sure all measurements fit within the following dimensions (with a little room to spare in the chest and neck).

I didn't give this 5 stars as the harness is a little bit of a challenge to adjust the size. It can be done but there is a learning curve. You tube has a video, but adjusting isn't as easy as demonstrated. The harness seems like it will stop my 60 pound hound from backing out of it. The extra strap past the ribs makes the difference. It's also nice to have the sturdy handle. It is a well made harness...definitely worth the price for the peace of mind. I will know more after using the harness for a longer period of time.

I bought this harness because my little 15lb rat terrier/Chihuahua mix dog was able to back out of his Front Range harness when he was really spooked at a little community dog show. This harness has a third belt that I think will prevent that from happening again. As always, Ruffwear stuff is really well built, so this will last us a lifetime! Also, the handle at the back gives me confidence because I can grab him if I need to. I also bought this harness for my 14 year old Border Collie who has some mobility issues. He's a little wobbly in the back legs sometimes and, for some reason, always wants to walk near the edge of the trail. This harness give him lots of support if I need to grab the handle and pull him back from the edge. I also like that it has the core cooler add-on because he overheats easily.

Every RuffWear product I have purchased for my two GSP's has been of outstanding quality. It is pricey but it outlasts any other product. RuffWear pricing is usually the same no matter which company you buy it from, except Baxterboo. I was able to purchase the harness and bodyguard at a substantial savings. Other than trying it on for size my dog has not been able to use the harness as she is recovering post-op leg amputation. I have no doubt she will be back to her usual self soon. Hope your supply of RuffWear life jackets gets in soon, swimming season is upon us!
